ABOUT THE FILM

We’re building a feature film in Kansas City called The Thrill of Speed.

Set on Memorial Day night, the film follows a group of young adults who decide to skip their graveyard shift and live out the holiday instead. What begins as a simple trip to the bar spirals into a full-blown odyssey through the decaying cultural landscape of modern America—abandoned railyards, anarchist street parties, hollowed-out nightlife, and rusted art deco ruins.

As the night unfolds, buried dreams, traumas, and betrayals rise to the surface, colliding with the chaos around them. The film explores the beauty and collapse of a generation caught between nostalgia and nihilism—told in a raw, improvisational, guerrilla filmmaking style.

THIS IS GUERRILLA FILMMAKING AS ADVENTURE

Stolen shots. Real streets. No permits.

We’re shooting inside live environments—bars, railyards, underground scenes—with real people and raw emotion. If you’re looking for polished sets and green screens, this isn’t your role. But if you want to be part of something unpredictable, intense, and unforgettable—welcome aboard.

CASTING REAL CHARACTERS — NOT CARICATURES

We’re looking for actors who feel like they’ve lived this life — or are damn good at making us believe it. The Thrill of Speed is a heavily improvisational feature shot guerrilla-style across Kansas City.

This is about resourcefulness, risk, and presence. We rotate between emotionally raw dialogue scenes and fast-paced, documentary-style chaos: a street sideshow, a nightclub infiltration, a river sequence on the Kaw and Missouri. All shot in real environments, around real people, without full control.

The script is a guide, not gospel. We expect the finished film to diverge wildly from the page. If you’re magnetic on camera, we’ll work around blind spots. Experience is a bonus—but truth, instinct, and bravery matter more.

KEY ROLES

[RAUL] – Male, 20s–30s, Latino or ambiguous ethnicity

Commanding, reckless, and magnetic. Raul makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger—even if it’s a disaster waiting to happen. A street general who runs the riverfront like his own kingdom. Needs strong presence, natural charisma, and comfort in high-energy, unpredictable environments. Gravitas required. Motorcycle experience preferred.

[THOM] – Male, 20s, white or ambiguous

Quietly intense and deeply reflective. Thom is the soul of the group—philosophical, restless, and drawn toward collapse. Must convey inner turmoil, poetic intelligence, and emotional subtlety. Improvisation essential.

[JAMIE] – Female, 20s, Latino or ambiguous

Sharp, fast-talking, and unpredictable. Jamie is confident, high-energy, and always pushing the edge. Must be quick on her feet, able to improvise in chaotic environments, and shift gears emotionally without warning.

[ROBERT] – Male, 30s, white

The old head of the crew. Stoic, weathered, and still dangerous. Robert rides like a ghost and drinks like a man with nothing to lose. Quiet authority and deep, unspoken pain are key. Motorcycle experience a plus.

[MICHAEL] – Male, 20s, white

A bit soft, a bit lost. Michael is the observer—late to everything, tagging along in a world he doesn’t fully understand. Needs a performer who can play emotionally fragile, subtly judgmental, and slowly unraveling.

[THE WIZARD] – Male, 60s–80s, white

An eccentric old man who appears in four surreal scenes. First seen riding a scooter in a tricorn and flag cape. Later seen ranting on train tracks, delivering cryptic lines at a park, and playing a Native flute atop a rail car. Minimal dialogue. Must bring poetic energy, visual presence, and be comfortable in eccentric costuming.

[MARISSA] – Female, 18–20s, white

Raul’s ex. Reckless, seductive, and emotionally destructive. She uses men for access—first Robert for the bike, then Raul for the chaos. Must embody subtle cruelty wrapped in charm and manipulation.

[SAMANTHA] – Female, 18–20s, white (Sexual content, possible nudity)

A goth girl with deep family trauma and a cold, curated online persona. She sleeps with Michael to create OnlyFans content—emotionally unreachable and self-mythologizing. Looking for someone comfortable with intimacy and performance that carries both collapse and allure. Bonus if you have experience in online modeling.

ALSO SEEKING:
